I might as well start my American-sounding blog entries now to warm up my seat since I won’t have a lot of time to do that once I actually get my butt up there.

It’s one week into my apartment/ housing/ share room hunt and I’m already disheartened, disappointed and on the verge of throwing my hands up in the air in surrender.

Craiglist.com is officially useless because the ads that were real wouldn’t respond to me because I would sound like a con with the whole “currently living in Melbourne” situation. The ones who got back to me were cons and I was nearly cheated by THREE different (they might actually be the same person, who knows?) characters. All within the span of one week.

I hence have concluded that the free listing website is a con-breeding place and will not turn to it any longer. If I have to pay more (more like if my parents have to pay more) then so be it because frankly I’m so sick and tired of having to find a place and the one that seemed real enough was also a little shoddy with the whole subletting situation.

Is New York really a place full of trickery?
